As the country moved forward from the unspeakable debacle on display in Iowa last week, the New Hampshire primary took center stage this week. But, how do you feel, Dear Readers? Do you still believe in our election process of U.S. president? Do you detest how biased the mainstream media has been toward your favorite 2020 presidential candidate? Keep reading to find out what you should keep in mind as you engage in the most consequential election that the U.S. will have in 40 years.
Welcome to new and returning readers to the Branding24Seven community! This blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that offers strategic solutions to strengthen your brand. In this election year, this blog will answer all your questions on politics, public policy, and what ought to be our legacy.
Last week, this blog explored the fact that the wave of socialist enthusiasm seen today has its roots in the disastrous trade policies that decimated the manufacturing sector, exported jobs abroad, and practically erased the middle-class over the last twenty years (here is the analysis for your convenience). In an email, a concerned voter asked the JMS team to examine how to stop socialism and preserve our American heritage to fight for freedom and hold on to what we cherish most: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
There is no doubt that Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary. Does that mean that the Democratic Party is now fully embracing socialism? Is the proud Democratic Party that rallied behind John F. Kennedy now ready to endorse Bernie Sanders? Does the Democratic Party now have a branding issue as moderates feel out of step as the base appears to move far to the left?
What do voters want?
Americans want to live the American Dream. Plain. And. Simple. They want to have good jobs and a good quality of life. They want to have health care, be able to afford a home with a picketed fence as well as college studies for their children while retaining a good pension for retirement. They want to take care of their family and see their children achieve great things rather than accumulate debt. Is this crazy? Not. So. Much.
Dear Readers, the problem is that Americans are longing for the good old days. Back when union jobs were the norm with blue-collar families being able to raise a family on a single salary. Sadly, these days are long gone. By embracing globalization in the 1990s under Bill Clinton, the establishment Democratic Party effectively abandoned millions of hard-working Americans.
The disappearance of union jobs is a direct consequence of the free trade embraced by the establishment and a decline in the standard of living of millions of American families. Today, disempowered and abandoned Americans are desperately looking for better living conditions than the decent in hell they have experienced in the last 25 years.
Bernie Sanders is a socialist. Are voters ready to pay higher taxes for his promises of free health care?
Dear Readers, despite what Bernie Sanders has told you on the campaign trails, free health care is a myth! The adage that there is no such thing as a free lunch still holds today! Consequently, Dear Readers, destroying this lie is an effective way to debunk socialism as the answer to the woes of so many Americans.
Universal care or Medicare For All is an expensive and inefficient alternative that goes against the core principles of American exceptionalism that highly favor individual liberty. When engaged in heated political debates, Dear Readers, ask opponents if they are ready to see their tax burden double or even triple to fund Medicare For All and wait 5 hours to be seen at the local public clinic like in Canada?!!!
The fact of the matter is that the more public services you want, the higher your tax burden will be. If the federal government cannot run Walter Reed National Military Medical Center efficiently for our beloved veterans, what makes you believe that it will be able to do it well on a national scale? Add in free college and whatever else for free and your tax burden will be so high that you will not be able to afford food, clothing, and shelter to your liking!
What about free college? Are voters willing to let the federal government dictate what ought to their profession for the sake of the collective?
Under socialism, the government gets to decide how to use the revenue from taxes to provide public services to its citizens. These services are not necessarily what you may want, Dear Readers, but what the government thinks you need. Frightening isn’t it?!!! So, the next time you hear a Bernie Sanders supporter sing the praises of free college, ask them if they are ready to sacrifice their freedom for the whims and fancies of the government.
In other words, say the federal government determines that there is an urgent in a specific field due to a national labor shortage. It won’t think twice about forcing its citizens to earn a degree in that specific field regardless of what they may want. That’s the reality of a socialist regime as the government oversees the ownership and the administration of means of production and goods distribution.
Now how is it that We, The People, in the Land of the Free no less, can willingly choose to give up individual liberties? Dear Readers, ask Bernie Sanders supporters if they are willing to live in what this blog calls a system a morass of federal quotas. Socialism takes away the liberty to decide how you choose to spend your money as well as the quality of life you are entitled to have as a free human being. Is that the America you want, Dear Readers?!
There you have it! Thanks for stopping by today and taking the time to read this post, Dear Readers.
