Dear Readers, whether you are working from home or commuting to your post as an essential worker, the coronavirus has disrupted our lives in a way so few of us could ever imagine. As 2020 comes to a close, now is the time to reflect and adopt the hard lessons from the global pandemic. Mainly that we cannot take our health for granted, and without it, there is no life. But is the goal to create a life barely worth living or a well-lived one? Ultimately, Dear Readers, most of us consider a good life to be one in which we have set and achieve all of our dreams.
But how can you create that well-lived life for yourself?
You’ll need a weekly plan that will set your soul on fire, double your productivity, and be happy to witness the progress you are making towards your goals. Do you want that for 2021? Keep reading to find out how to create the best weekly plan to achieve all of your goals.
Dear Readers, as a full-time employee, you might feel it is nearly impossible to have a meaningful life outside of work. But, if you believe that life is more than work, you should aim to have everything you’ve ever wanted. Dear Readers, you can have it all, no matter what’s your definition of “having it all” means! So, what should you do?
You’ll need a solid understanding of time management.
Simple enough? Let’s dive right in and suppress whatever whiff of disbelief you might think at this very moment. Let’s start by dividing your day into specific daytime chunks and assigning bundles of tasks to each of them.
This blog proposes four chunks:
- A morning chunk that would run from the moment you wake up to the minute you start working.
- A working one would be from the moment you clock in until you clock out.
- A soul-feeding chunk would encompass the after-work hours.
- An evening one that would close your day before starting the whole thing all over again!
As you see, Dear Readers, you only have three big blocks to fit in everything meaningful to you since the fourth one is all about work. So, Dear Readers, if you want to be successful, you need to figure out what is meaningful to you.

Once you know what goals you want to pursue, you need a roadmap that can materialize how to align your priorities (i.e., paying rent, providing for your family) and your goals (i.e., run a marathon next summer, or start a side hustle). Consequently, the roadmap becomes the tool that helps you manage time and prioritize your ambitions outside of your job. Remember that work is only a part of your life is not your whole life! And this is how to create a meaningful yet peaceful life for yourself, Dear Readers!
So, for today, your task is to cluster together habits that move you closer to your goals and assign them to specific chunks of time.
Dear Readers, you know what to do! The time has come to grab your goal book and enumerate all the tasks and habits you need to complete or incorporate in the weekly plan to achieve the six goals you’ve listed in the first half of 2021. For better results, this blog suggests grouping tasks under the umbrella of three categories: foundational, building, and finishing blocks.
Let’s start with establishing the foundational blocks that seldom change, i.e., work shifts, class times, children’s afterschool activities, family bonding time, dates with your significant other. Building blocks are the actions that you are taking TODAY that will set you well on the way to accomplishing your 2021 goals. Finishing blocks essentially fulfill the self-care aspect of your weekly plan.
The JMS team believes that to feel productive and give meaning to the rest of your lives (outside of work), Dear Readers, you must assign each block to your three remaining daily chunks in a systematic matter.
For example, Dear Readers, your foundational blocks could span the time of both working and soul-feeding chunks. You could tie your building blocks to the morning chunk so that the evening chunk is left solely for the pursuit of finishing blocks.
Thus, when you wake up every day, Dear Readers, you know what you have to do in the same way that students follow a rigid class schedule every semester. You are, in effect, decisively moving towards your goals. And as you see your progression, you will feel a sense of accomplishment, pride, and happiness. Come back tomorrow to find out how full-time employees have managed to make real strides towards their goals amid the global pandemic since attending the JMS virtual mastermind ateliers last fall! Your future can look just as bright, Dear Readers. Don’t you let the coronavirus kill your dreams or discourage you from pursuing the life you want!
