Hello, Dear Readers! How’s it going? Have you set your goals for the first half of 2021 yet? If you haven’t, please take a moment to read the first publication of the Blogmas 2020 series that will change your life (yes, even in this pandemic)!
Speaking of the coronavirus, how are you feeling? Are you experiencing discouragement, anger, anxiety in rapid succession in a frantic feedback loop that leaves you utterly exhausted day in and day out? You are not the only one, Dear Readers! 2020 has been a traumatic year, to say the least! Many Americans have lost so much since the beginning of the global pandemic. It is difficult to imagine that there is a light at the end of the depressing COVID-19 tunnel.
So, against such a grim backdrop, is it OK to ask how to be more successful? Absolutely! And you know what, Dear Readers, you are not the only ones! Most human beings look for answers only when their lives are upside down. You know the feeling, Dear Readers, of gasping for air as the pressure on your chest tightens even though you are doing everything you can to keep your head above water.
Dear Readers, we do this to ourselves because we are all juggling so many priorities at once that it becomes almost impossible to keep the focus on our hopes and dreams long enough to see any progress! Never mind, having the time to invest what little energy we happen to harness at the end of a loooooooong work week and follow through on our goals. Many of us feel like we are running around on a hamster wheel and going nowhere fast!
What Do You Need To Do That Can Leave Such A Vicious Cycle In 2020?
Wait a minute, Dear Readers! We all know that there are no short cuts in life. Not when you aspire to have a balanced and purposeful life. Furthermore, challenges will never disappear! You can be sure of that, Dear Readers! Therefore, your approach to life and obstacles is what needs to change rather than hoping and praying that life gets better somehow someday!
For this reason, Dear Readers, this blog wants to encourage you to incorporate one of the most potent habits to attract success and good fortune: to cultivate gratitude, always, even through hard times.
Why you may ask?! Well, it is easy to sit around and think that your life is more challenging than everybody else’s life. It is so easy to tell yourself that you do this and do that; you work harder than so and so…. But woe is me because my life is sooooo unfair!
SURE! Life can be tough sometimes and totally rotten at times. But, Dear Readers, if you are honest with yourself, you can admit that there are also many moments of pure bliss, unadulterated joy, and unshakable faith that have changed the course of your life for the better. Can’t you think of meeting someone, by happenstance no less, whose chance encounter afforded you with the opportunity of a lifetime? You see, Dear Readers, even in a challenging year such as 2020, there is much to be grateful for, and we should not take anything for granted!
So, for today, your task is to figure out how to commit to this valuable practice of cultivating gratitude.
Now let’s be honest! Flexing the gratitude muscle takes getting used to and will not come naturally at first, Dear Readers! Therefore, this blog suggests creating a routine around the practice of cultivating gratitude. In time, you will see that the more you keep track of your blessings, you will feel more successful.
Perhaps you can spend the first 10 minutes of your day as you wake up to thinks about three people you are grateful for during this global pandemic. Or, you can take a minute or two before inhaling your lunch to express how content you are with something that went well during your shift at work. You can even carve a moment in the evening as you prepare for the next day to sit down and make a list of five blessings you have to acknowledge before going to bed. Better yet, write your list of blessings in your goalbook to feel motivated and encouraged that you are making real, tangible progress towards your goals.
