Keep reading to find out how to bring balance and purpose in 2020.
Welcome to the Branding24Seven community, Dear Readers! As a reminder, this website answers all of your branding questions. In case this is your first time visiting, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that offers strategic solutions to strengthen your professional or personal brands. Now, let’s see how foundational blocks will fire up your productivity to a new level in 2020.
Today Dear Readers, this blog wants to focus on the soul-feeding chunk of your day. As a reminder, please refer to this post to understand the JMS team divides your day into four separate chunks to be more productive despite a 40-hour workweek.
At last, your workday is over! You are excited to leave, but what are you going to do? Rush home only to spend the evening vegging on the couch in front of the TV. Mechanically go through the motions of eating dinner with the family but preoccupied with what the supervisor my do to you the next day? Engage in a cleaning spree like a busy bee to avoid thinking about how overworked and exasperated you are with the sad state of your life? Is this a way to live Dear Readers? No wonder you feel unmotivated and unproductive!
To counteract that this negative energy, this blog invites you to shift your perspective and look at the soul-feeding chunk as the opportunity to invest in foundational blocks. The JMS team insists that clients make such blocks revolve around what matters most and is likely to feed their souls… So, they have the energy to keep going.
Some will choose to participate in afterschool activities with their kids. Others prefer to reserve this time to spend with loved ones (e.g., dinner with friends, significant others, family members). Still, others have to invest in themselves dues to personal/financial constraints and therefore choose this time to work their second job or pursue academic work as part-time students enrolled in a degree course.
This blog understands that life is complicated and quite unfair to boot! But, Dear Readers, remember that hardships do not last forever. So, as you navigate this crazy thing called life, do not let work consume you to the point of neglecting the other aspects of your lives that are supposed to bring you more joy and balance.
Remember the two JMS clients (triathlete hero and aspiring account) that shared with you how they organized their morning chunks differently to be as productive as possible every week in day three of this get what is ours in 2020 inspired Blogmas series? They have graciously agreed to share with you all, Dear Readers, how they fill their soul-feeding chunks despite holding down a full-time job.
Since our triathlete hero has a very strict 8:30 pm bedtime, he has removed all digital distractions to focus on his wife and children. There are media and screens complete blackouts (e.g., no tv, no social media, no phone calls)! He gets home at 6:30 pm to bathe his children while his wife is cooking dinner. After his R & R with the kids, the family sits to eat dinner at 7:15 pm. He does the dishes at 8 pm while his wife reads a bedtime story to the kids. At 8:15 pm he kisses everyone good night and he is off to bed. No muss, no fuss! Did you notice Dear Readers that he chose to scrap the evening chunk altogether as training always takes precedent? However, in the final installment of the series, you will see how the JMS team was able to create a space for his finishing blocks on the weekend!
As for our aspiring accountant, you can see below that she opted for soul-feeding chunk just as rigid as her morning one!
The JMS team was able to move the hub for her fellowship activities to a more strategic place: at the midway point between her home and her job. Since she loves her neighborhood, she was not willing to move closer to work to cut down on the commute. Yet, the JMS team was able to find charities and organizations she loves to continue doing what feeds her soul: giving back to the community and singing praises.
Of course, it was not easy to leave behind her cherished childhood church for a new one. Once the JMS team strategically organized her daily chunks to meet her weekly goals, she saw that she must move on and join a new community. She has been thriving and loving every single moment!
As you see, Dear Readers, both JMS clients have made some sacrifices to have a fuller, more meaningful lives outside of work. They are no longer on social media. TV and friends are relayed to weekends only…. No exceptions!
Yet, despite being in their late thirties, they feel as energetic as college students. As their outlook on life has changed drastically, their productivity has increased twofold! You can have it all, Dear Readers! You have to be willing to make strategic adjustments and remain flexible. Your life is what you choose to make of it. Nothing is impossible!
There you have it, Dear Readers! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! Do you now believe that you can have it all despite holding down a full-time job? Of course, there is one more crucial element to discuss. You’ll have to come back Monday to find out how your finishing blocks can pack a punch to your weeklies!
