Keep reading to find out how to harness your untapped potential to become the most productive powerhouse!
Welcome to the Branding24Seven community, Dear Readers! As a reminder, this website answers all of your branding questions. In case this is your first time visiting, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that offers strategic solutions to strengthen your professional or personal brands. Now, let’s go over what you need to do to have the best possible year in 2020.
Before proceeding to today’s publication, Dear Readers, please take a moment to check out yesterday’s article to understand what this blog means by morning chunk and building block here and come right back!
Dear Readers, this blog truly believes that your mornings should not be about rushing out the door to get to work. Instead, Dear Readers, think of them as propellers to get you closer to achieving your goals and dreams! Consequently, this blog invites you to implement the JMS building block framework that will help you latch onto your purpose from the moment the alarm rings unforgivingly every single morning.
So, what does this mean concretely? Does it mean that you need a morning routine? The short answer is both yes and no! Yes, if you plan to string together a few practices that you want to repeat every morning. No, if you prefer instead to assign certain activities to specific days.
The long answer is that it depends on what you want to want out of life, Dear Readers! If you are unsure about your goals Dear Readers, how can you ever boost your productivity to the next level? Let’s be real! It is hard to make great strides forward when one doesn’t even know where one is going!
If that’s where you are Dear Readers, stop reading this publication right this minute and focus instead on finding out the answer to five questions you should be asking that will turn things around and set you on the way to living a more purposeful life as a new decade begins.
But if you know what goals you want to pursue, Dear Readers, use your morning chunks strategically to get what you want. If, for example, you want to compete in an ironman triathlon in 2020 while working more than 40 hours a week, reserving your training solely to weekends is not going to cut it! You will have to make the sacrifice to train during the week. With evening sessions out of the question (please come back tomorrow to find out why), you are left mornings.
Therefore, your building blocks could look like this:
- Monday is a recovery bike workout (thanks perhaps to a punishing long-distance run on Sunday);
- Tuesday is your mobility and strength workout;
- Wednesday is a recovery swim workout;
- Thursday is a rest day because Friday is the endurance BRICK workout (the killer combo of a long-distance bike run immediately followed by a run as fast as possible).
As you can imagine Dear Readers, training sessions are the sole focus of morning chunks for this JMS client. Indeed, the only way to conceivably be able to clock in for the usual staff meeting at 9:30 am is to wake up around 4:30 am. There is, of course, some flexibility to move workouts around to accommodate cyclical output-driven pressure points such as work trips. All in all, this triathlete in training has the luxury to keep weeklies as fresh as possible and avoid boredom or burnout.
But what if your 2020 goal is to study for a professional license such as the CPA exam? Your morning chunks are more likely to be far more rigid and repetitive as follow:
Unlike the triathlon hero, this aspiring accountant has very little flexibility to fend against burnout. However, the stakes for both JMS clients are so high that they have been able to stick to their designed morning chunks with ease and determination.
There you have it, Dear Readers. Has today’s publication convinced you that it is possible to have a rewarding life while holding down a full-time job? How productive would you feel to accomplish your most valuable goals before you clock in for work every week just like the triathlon hero and aspiring accountant are doing right now?! Of course, there are so many other facets of your lives that must align with your goals to get such a dynamic morning chunk. Come back tomorrow to find out how these two JMS clients plan to manage the remaining two chunks to have an even more meaningful life outside of work.
Dear Readers, we want to hear from you! What are you going to do with your morning chunks in 2020 to infuse more productivity during the week despite holding down a full-time job? What are some building blocks you could introduce now that will bring you closer to your goals and dreams? Did we miss anything?
