As a full-time employee, Dear Readers, you might feel that it is near impossible to have a meaningful life outside of work. Major hurdles often seem to prevent you from having a much-desired purposeful and balanced life. It might be the case that you are working in an industry that appears to be more demanding than others. Or it could be that you answer to a supervisor who is less flexible all the way around! No matter your circumstances, Dear Readers, know that you are not alone. Many hard-working people share the same predicament. Keep reading to find out how you can reduce stress and loneliness while increasing productivity in 2020.
Welcome to new and returning readers to the Branding24Seven community! As the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that offers strategic solutions to strengthen your brand, this blog is the place to find the answers to your most burning branding questions. Now let’s go over the two-part system that will drive your productivity through the roof in 2020.
Before moving further, there is one caveat to discuss immediately: today’s post is not about how to be productive when you hate your job. This blog previously explored how you, Dear Readers, could go about remaining motivated while hating your current job (here) or feeling stuck in a dead-end job (here). If you would like this blog to explores these topics further, drop a comment below or email us at jms@branding24seven.com.
Now that’s out of the way Dear Readers, let’s discuss how you can be more productive despite holding down a 40-hour workweek. The answer is simple: divide your day in specific daytime chunks and assign bundles of tasks to each of them.
This blog proposes four chunks: 1) a morning chunk that would run from the moment you wake up to the minute you arrive at work; 2) a working chunk from the moment you clock in until you clock out; 3) a soul-feeding chunk to encompass the after-work hours; 4) an evening chunk that closes your day before starting the whole thing all over again!
As you see Dear Readers, you only have three blocks to fit in everything meaningful to you since the fourth one is all about work. Now, the time has come to figure out what tasks you should include within each of your chunks. To help Dear Readers, here are two takeaways from the mastermind ateliers (described in the framework page) the JMS team is privileged to host for clients that should help you figure out how to group tasks for each of your chunks in a manner that is meaningful and productive:
NUMBER ONE: YOU NEED A ROADMAP.
In the back to school special edition (found here), this blog explored how to go about moving beyond dreaming with the clarity to unpack what ought to be your priorities for 2020, Dear Readers. A roadmap, therefore, materializes the alignment between your priorities and your goals. Dear Readers, this is how you prioritize your ambitions outside of the working chunk.
NUMBER TWO: FOUNDATIONAL VS. BUILDING VS. FINISHING.
Dear Readers, in that same back to school issue, this blog broke down three categories of blocks that you cannot live without: foundational, building, and finishing blocks. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with them before reading the end of this publication, so this blog does not bore you with unnecessary repetitions!
The JMS team believes that to feel productive and give meaning to the rest of your lives (outside of work) Dear Readers, you must assign each block to your three remaining daily chunks in a systematic matter. In truth, the point of this takeaway is to provide order so that when you wake up every day, you know what you have to do in the same way that students follow a rigid class schedule every semester.
Come back tomorrow to find out how full-time employees have managed to double their productivity in 2019 since attending the JMS mastermind ateliers!
There you have it, Dear Readers! The JMS team thanks you, Dear Readers, for taking the time to read today’s publication. The branding24seven community is here to inspire and encourage as you, Dear Readers, are embarking on the exhilarating journey to design the career of your dreams.
