It’s that time of the year again, Dear Readers, when we are assailed with enticing offers to consume more and more and even more! Why do we buy into these doorbuster deals knowing that we don’t need half of these new things?
This blog does not want you to get into debt buying things you don’t even need! No, Dear Readers, the JMS team invites you to consume more mindfully and focus instead on actively repaying the national average of credit card balance-carrying households of $9,333 that weighs down hard-working Americans (read more about it here).
If you are living paycheck to paycheck, Dear Readers, stop reading this post right this moment. Instead, plan to time the laid-back day with loved ones at home or your local Christmas Village if you are lucky enough to live close to one! Don’t even think about giving up your hard-earned money to companies that only care about their bottom lines rather than your welfare. Don’t do it, Dear Readers! The JMS team wants to see you succeed in this crazy thing called life!
If you are lucky enough to have the flexibility to pay cash rather than use credit cards, let’s figure out how you can practice mindfulness while shopping today. Here are a few guiding principles you keep in mind as you participate in America’s favorite past time!
Be intentional with your purchases and put more value on the fewer things you end up purchasing.
Choose to create memorable giving experiences: do more Secret Santa exchanges, instill a one gift rule for children, or let the plethora of DYI YouTube channels unleash your inner designer to make unforgettable tchotchkes for loved ones.
Cultivate the one in and one out rule: before purchasing new gifts, consider making a list of items to sell or donate to your local charity so that the less fortunate among us can also participate in the gift sharing.
Support your local economy by shopping locally and having items repaired instead of throwing them into the garbage.
Dear Readers, this blog wants you to have the most meaningful lives rather than perpetuate habits that, in the end, will leave you empty inside and short on cash!
Enjoy a second or even third helping of turkey today, Dear Readers, and come back next week for the Branding24Seven PREP 2020 series that will galvanize you into action like no tomorrow (check out the first installment here).
Dear Readers, we want to hear from you! How do you plan on spending your Black Friday? Did we miss anything? Let us know by email at jms@branding24seven.com or by mail at JMStrategy LLC
