Why should full-time employees conquer morning chunks more effectively?
Before proceeding to today’s publication, Dear Readers, please take a moment to check out yesterday’s article to understand what this blog means by morning chunk and BUILDING BLOCKS and come right back!
Dear Readers, this blog truly believes that your mornings should not be about rushing out the door to get to work. Or sleeping until the very last minute before you sit down to start your work remotely if you are still under the WFH model the coronavirus imposed on us all in 2020.
Instead, Dear Readers, think of them as propellers to get you closer to achieving your goals and dreams! Consequently, this blog invites you to implement the JMS BUILDING BLOCK framework that will help you latch onto your purpose from the moment the alarm rings unforgivingly every single morning.
So, what does this mean concretely? Does it mean that you need a morning routine? The short answer is both yes and no! Yes, if you plan to string together a few practices you want to repeat every morning. No, if you prefer instead to assign certain activities to specific mornings.
The long answer is that it depends on what you want out of life, Dear Readers! If you are unsure about your goals, how can you ever boost your productivity to the next level? Let’s be honest for a moment, Dear Readers! It is hard to make great strides forward when one doesn’t even know where one is going!

Case study showing how full-time employees conquer morning chunks to improve weekly productivity.
Today, we share the work a JMS client accomplished over the summer. We hope that if you know what goals you want to pursue in 2022, this case study will inspire you to use your morning chunks strategically to get what you want.
James wanted to pursue his physical education teacher certification while working 40 hours a week. He asked the JMS team to reorganize his week and help him complete his classwork and coaching requirements. Thus, in his case, the FOUNDATIONAL BLOCK or weekly life category that seldom changes is his full-time job.
Now, remember, Dear Readers, that the BUILDING BLOCKS are the habits you decide to incorporate into your weeklies to help you perform better in your FOUNDATIONAL BLOCK. With activities already allocated to evening chunks (please come back tomorrow to find out why), the only option left on the table was the morning.
Here is how the JMS team helped James conquer his morning chunks before going to work to improve weekly productivity:
- Monday is a rest day, so NO early wake-up (thanks perhaps to a supervised coaching sessions for team games on Saturday and Sunday).
- Tuesday is BUILDING BLOCK 1 for online seminar class and readings.
- Wednesday is BUILDING BLOCK 2 to study for concomitant certifications (i.e., first aid, CRP, lifeguard, sport therapy) for now and later in 2022 for the state examination.
- Thursday is BUILDING BLOCK 3 for second online class and readings.
- Friday is BUILDING BLOCK 4 for class assignments and papers.
As you can see, Dear Readers, classes and study sessions are the sole focus of morning chunks for this JMS client. Indeed, the only way to conceivably clock in for the usual staff meeting at 8:30 am is to wake up around 5:30 am. But since he has been working from home in 2021, he has eliminated the dreaded hourly morning commute. Thus, by spending two hours from 6 to 8 am four times a week, this JMS client was able to harness morning chunks as propellers to get closer to his dream of becoming a physical education teacher.
Final thoughts on how full-time employees conquer morning chunks for productive weeklies.
There you have it, Dear Readers. Has today’s publication convinced you that it is possible to have a rewarding life while holding down a full-time job? How productive would you feel to accomplish your most valuable goals before you clock in for work every week like the aspiring physical education teacher James is doing? Of course, Dear Readers, there are so many other facets of your lives that must align with your goals to get such a productive morning. Come back tomorrow to learn how this JMS client plans to manage the remaining two chunks to have an even more meaningful life outside of work.
