Why do full-time employees struggle to organize weeklies more effectively?
Dear Readers, many hurdles prevent you from having a much-desired purposeful yet balanced life. It might be the case that you are working in an industry that appears to be more demanding than others. Or it could be that you answer to a supervisor who is less flexible all the way around! No matter your circumstances, Dear Readers, you are not alone. Many hard-working people share the same predicament. So, Dear Readers, what is the solution? Should you quit your job? Or should you rethink the organization of your week entirely?
How can full-time employees organize weeklies to crush their goals?
The answer is simple: divide your day into specific daytime chunks and assign bundles of tasks to each of them.
This blog proposes four chunks:
1) A morning chunk that would run from the moment you wake up to the minute you start to work.
2) A working chunk from the moment you clock in until you clock out.
3) A soul-feeding one to encompass the after-work hours.
4) An evening chunk that closes your day before starting the whole thing all over again!
As you see, Dear Readers, you only have three blocks to fit in everything meaningful to you since the fourth one is all about work. All you must do is figure out what tasks you should include within each of your chunks that will bring you closer to achieving your top goals for 2022. Remember, Dear Readers, the goal of this exercise is to group tasks for each of your chunks in a manner that allows for a productive yet meaningful life.
How to align life blocks to time chunks for maximum efficiency?
While working with clients, the JMS team witnessed that the human brain experiences choice fatigue rather quickly, even when one is very motivated. To avoid said fatigue and gain even more mental clarity, this blog suggests creating a weekly routine to keep for 2022.
So, Dear Readers, you must define your life brackets or groups of activities that bring purpose to your life. Let’s start with establishing your FOUNDATIONAL BLOCKS or weekly life categories that seldom change. They include shift hours for work, class times, set afterschool activities for the children, therapy/wellness appointments, family bonding time, and dates with your significant other.
Next, we examine BUILDING BLOCKS. What are they, and why do they matter? These blocks are the habits you decide to incorporate into your weeklies to help you perform better in your foundational blocks. For instance, Dear Readers, you might work in a technical field requiring the regular upkeep of certain credentials. Your building block would be attending conferences or completing continuing education credits. In short, Dear Readers, your building blocks are the actions that you are taking today, as you read this post, and that will set you on the way to accomplishing your 2022 goals. These actions, however, are heavily informed through your new year resolutions. So, don’t be afraid to spend some time figuring out how to prepare for 2022 today! That is how you manifest your dreams now!
Of course, you must pace yourself and avoid flaming out too early in the year, around mid-February. This blog invites you to care about your mental state of mind in the same way you care about your most prized possessions. To that end, you’ll have to include FINISHING BLOCKS that essentially fulfill the self-care facet of your weekly routine.
While there are many activities you can do that probably fall under self-care, the objective is to find balance. Thus, you can appreciate your journey right this moment, even amid an interminable coronavirus pandemic.
Journaling, for instance, is a powerful tool to reflect on the road traveled so far. As you reread past reflections, you will see your progress and be motivated to keep going! If that’s not your cup of tea, consider establishing a ritual that allows you to clear your mind and put life on pause. For some, that would be creating a spa night. Others would prefer to meal prep for the first three days of the week. For others still, it’s about disconnecting from social media and decluttering/cleaning their houses from top to bottom.
Whatever that looks like to you, Dear Readers, please make time to take care of your mental health every week. In the long term, you will see just how even-keeled you are becoming and ready to take on anything that this crazy thing called life will throw at you!

The JMS team believes that to feel productive and give meaning to the rest of your lives (outside of work) Dear Readers, you must assign each block to your three remaining daily chunks in a systematic matter. In truth, the point of this takeaway is to provide order so that when you wake up every day, you know what you have to do in the same way that students follow a rigid class schedule every semester.
