Can we have a Happy Fourth amid what feels like an ever-expanding cultural war? Dear Readers, many of you are still very upset that the supreme court overturned Roe v. Wade last week. And how about the massive immigration crisis we continue to battle on the border? Did you hear about the 51 immigrants found dead in the San Antonio trailer of death on June 27th, 2022?
And what about inflation? Who is to blame? The American people have had enough of everything costing more and more each month! And let’s not forget about gun control and all the small businesses that the pandemic mercilessly crushed as governments imposed what some have seen as unconstitutional yet lengthy stay-at-home orders curtailing our civil liberties like no other time in history. This blog gets it! It’s been a tough couple of years. That is precisely why we should celebrate America’s independence!
Welcome back to the JMS blog!
Dear Readers, thank you very much for your continued support! JMS is a small consulting firm that helps individuals and organizations explore new avenues to face crises of all sorts with efficiency. Consequently, the JMS team is familiar with the stress and uncertainty you have felt in the past two years. We are all wrestling with pandemic fatigue and burnout! However, this blog is here to make sense of the noise we live in so that you can find your way out of the chaos and finally live your dreams. OK, enough fluffing around. Let’s get into this right now!
How do you have a Happy Fourth of July amid an uncertain world?
Dear Readers, what do you do when you feel the world shatters around you into a million pieces? You find the strength to move forward by tapping into these three life principles to unlock a much-needed shift in perspective:
One – Find pleasure in the tiniest victories.
Listen, Dear Readers, so often we are blinded by anger, distress, or discouragement that we miss the small moments that make life worth living. Indeed, we tend to hyperfocus on setbacks or the ultimate “big” goal that we forget to enjoy the journey. Consequently, this blog invites you to take stock of how far you’ve come, for example, since the onset of the pandemic. Isn’t that reason enough to have a Happy Fourth when so many people have lost loved ones and their livelihood?!!!
Two – Focus on your journey and forget what you see on social media.
At JMS, we firmly believe that the constant comparison we see to live, day in and day out, thanks to social media, is toxic. Think about it, Dear Readers, when was the last time you felt good about yourself when you compared your life to the great things everyone else is achieving on social media?
Instead of wasting hours going that the rabbit hole comparing your life to everyone else’s, why not focus on your journey starting today?!! With July, we’ve hit that halfway mark of the year. Why not dust up your goals and create new routines to help you achieve your goals? Let’s make this holiday the start of an incredible journey, shall we?!!!
Three – Learn to shift your perception and how you respond to everything.
Dear Readers, people always say they want to achieve peace of mind. Many of you told us repeatedly that you wanted to have a more meaningful life. So, how do you achieve such a goal? By learning to control your response to distractions, setbacks, and everything else, this crazy life throws at you! In short, Dear Readers, you can always control your emotions and how you react to situations. Everything is not always a catastrophe, you know?!!!
A Happy Fourth is ultimately about celebrating America’s freedom.
Now that you have the three life keys needed to navigate an uncertain world, Dear Readers, let’s get back to the real reason America came about: freedom! Of course, our history does not have a spotless record like any other country. We all know that our beloved nation has had stretches of greatness entangled with despicable periods, if not outright barbaric ones. That does not mean that some fraction of the citizenry or media outlets should get to dictate what we should collectively remember about our history.
This blog stands against this level of revisionist recollection of the American extraordinaire historical journey. It bears repeating that we are like no other nations but have so much to be thankful for, don’t you think, Dear Readers? Therefore, we should all celebrate the Fourth of July if only to remember that without independence, there is no freedom. Is there a better gift than to bask in the American heritage of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness? We should collectively do everything we can to honor such a priceless bedrock of our nation!
And remember, Dear Readers, it is never out of style to be proud of who you are, where you come from, and what you stand for now and forever! In the meantime, this blog encourages you to celebrate America’s independence to the fullest.
From all of us here at JMS, Dear Readers, we wish you all a Happy Fourth Of July 2022!
