Keep reading to find out how to bring balance and purpose weekly in 2023 amid any crisis.
Welcome to the JMS blog, your hub for actionable crisis management tips to level up your brand.
We are back to answer your branding questions after an unexpected, prolonged hiatus working with executives across the U.S. to assess their strengths/weaknesses and beef up leadership skills. Dear Readers, if it is your first visit, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a Philadelphia-based crisis management firm that helps brands in free fall strive again.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, the Great Resignation, and the Quiet Quitting chaos, this blog shares practical insights to enhance your leadership style, team management, and goal-setting skills amid any crisis. Now, without further ado, let’s see how foundational blocks can anchor your soul-feeding chunks and fire up your happiness and life satisfaction to a new level in 2023.
Why are soul-feeding chunks best to pursue your purpose weekly?
Today Dear Readers, this blog wants to focus on the soul-feeding chunk of your day. As a reminder, please refer to the second installment of this goal-setting series to understand the JMS team divides your day into four distinct chunks to be more productive despite a 40-hour workweek.
In essence, Dear Readers, the point of having well-defined chunks of time is not to fill them up as much as possible with tasks that do nothing to bring you closer to your quest of living with purpose. To that end, this blog believes that soul-feeding chunks are to explore how to have a more fulfilling life. They are not, however, made to engage mechanically in unproductive activities such as vegging on the couch in front of the TV or mindlessly scrolling on social media.
But, Dear Readers, this blog also wants to caution you from using these chunks to accomplish practical tasks such as doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, or organizing your closets. However, Dear Readers, disciplined as you may be, that is not how you’ll find purpose weekly while working full-time! No wonder you are feeling dissatisfied and devoid of energy!
Here are some soul-feeding examples of how to pursue your purpose weekly.
Dear Readers, let us revisit JMS client fitness warrior, we are going to call Eric and JMS blog long-time reader Tanisha to inspire you to create some time to pursue your purpose every week via your soul-feeding chunks.
Eric’s journey:
Since Eric has a very strict bedtime to wake up for his early morning workout, he has removed all digital distractions during his soul-feeding chunk. For this fitness warrior, there is nothing more important than his loved ones. His wife and children are his foundational block. Therefore, every decision he makes revolves around them.
Thus, to be fully present, he has instituted a media/screens complete blackouts (e.g., no tv, no social media, no phone calls) from dinner time at 6:45 pm to his 10 pm bedtime. Did you notice, Dear Readers, that he chose to scrap the evening chunk since his workouts take precedence? However, in the next installment of this goal-setting series, you will see how the JMS team created a space for his finishing blocks on the weekend!
Tanisha’s journey:
As for our full-time teacher Tanisha, she wants to use her mornings to start a side hustle as a content creator. Consequently, her soul-feeding chunk had to be about being creative for the sake of creativity. The JMS team has found the busier employees get, the less creative they become. Since content creation requires a healthy dose of creativity, we proposed Tanisha fills her soul-feeding chunk with activities likely to fuel her creativity.
Thus, she can teach one weekly painting class at her community center and take Zumba classes with her teenage daughters three times a week. All activities happen at the end of the afternoon, which still allows having family dinners at 8 pm. Her husband works 12-hour shifts and is delighted to have a later dinner. All in all, Tanisha is thrilled to have more creative outlets without sacrificing family time. She is thriving since she has finally found purpose!
Final thoughts to make time to pursue your purpose weekly to soar in 2023.
As you see, Dear Readers, both Eric and Tanisha have made some sacrifices to have fuller, more meaningful lives outside of work. They are no longer on social media. TV and friends are relayed on weekends only…. No exceptions!
Yet, despite being in their early forties, they feel as energetic as college students. As their outlook on life has changed drastically, their productivity has increased twofold! You can have it all, Dear Readers! You must be willing to make strategic adjustments and remain flexible. Your life is what you choose to make of it. Nothing is impossible!
There you have it, Dear Readers! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! As always, we want to hear from you. Do you believe you can have it all despite working full-time? What will you do during your soul-feeding chunks to pursue your purpose weekly? Of course, there is one more crucial element to discuss. You’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out how your finishing blocks can pack a punch into your weeklies!
In the meantime, catch up on the first installment of this highly requested goal-setting series to help you walk into 2023 like a B-O-S-S.
