Welcome to the JMS blog, your hub for actionable crisis management tips to level up your brand.
We are back to answer your branding questions after our annual vacation. Dear Readers, we are ready to produce content that answers all your branding questions to strengthen your time, work, and people management skills. If it is your first visit, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a Philadelphia-based crisis management firm that helps brands in free fall strive again.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, the Great Resignation, and the Quiet Quitting chaos, this blog shares practical insights to enhance your leadership style, team management, and goal-setting skills amid any crisis. Now, let’s see how a strategic facelift of your daily routine will make 2023 your most productive year yet!
To plan daily effectively, you must split your 24 hours into four chunks.
Dear Readers, this blog does not believe that having a full-time job prevents you from having a purposeful and well-balanced life. Dear Readers, to successfully achieve everything you dream of, you must be strategic with your time. While nothing is impossible, everything will require some level of sacrifice. It’s up to you, Dear Readers, to decide what you are willing to give up, to be as accomplished as you would like.
Thus, assuming two-thirds of your day is used for sleeping and working, you are left with eight glorious hours to pursue your dreams. That is plenty of time to make things happen daily!
Consequently, this blog proposes splitting your day into four chunks:
- Morning chunk that would run from the minute you wake up to the start of your shift at work.
- Working chunk from the moment you clock in until you clock out.
- Soul-feeding chunk to encompass the after-work hours.
- Evening chunk that closes your day and helps you settle in for a good night’s sleep!
Dear Readers, now you must decide how you utilize your chunks to reach your goals. Is binge-watching your favorite shows from the moment your workday ends until bedtime the best use of your time, Dear Readers? Maybe?!! Hey, no judgment here. The JMS team knows that sometimes life is so bruising that laying on the couch for hours is all one can muster. But, Dear Readers, if that’s what you do every day, every week, and every month this year, you will never achieve the goals and resolutions you set at the beginning of 2023.
Check out our year-end goal-setting series to explore further How To Achieve Your Goals In 2023.
To plan daily is to eliminate vagueness and procrastination.
Daily planning eliminates vagueness and procrastination by helping you cultivate habits and routines. The JMS team always tells clients that their success resides in their daily routines. It is true for you as well, Dear Readers. Sticking to a daily plan will help you find renewed focus and will fire up to go after your dreams. OK, here are the three steps to get you started:
– Firstly, you will have to decide what is important to you.
– Secondly, you will have to find a systematic approach to integrate what’s important to you into your daily chunks.
–Thirdly, you will have to keep a detailed account of your actions to measure your progress.
Let us take the case of David and see how he needs to plan daily to achieve his goals in 2023.
When David came to JMS, he had been at a large global bank for 15 years. After two divorces, strenuous relationships with his children, and no friends to speak of, he was ready for a change. David felt empty, overweight, and disgusted with his life despite the fact he had been making a good living. So, he decided to change his life in 2023. He asked us to help him find time to invest in deepening friendships and family bonds ahead of work connections. Here is how we work through the three steps:
-One: David decided rebuilding relations took precedence over everything else in 2023.
-Two: He chose a systematic approach to integrate what is important to him by reorganizing the routine of his soul-feeding chunks.
-Three: He planned to have family dinners Monday through Thursday during his soul-feeding chunk 6:30-8:30 pm. We kept the Friday soul-feeding chunk for reconnecting with his friends starting at 7 pm. That way, if he comes home late, he will not be too stressed since it is the start of his weekend.
Here are a few takeaways on how to plan daily effectively for a more intentional life in 2023.
Firstly, success does not happen in a vacuum. To crush your goals, Dear Readers, you will need to cultivate a certain level of discipline. For David, it meant getting into the habit of leaving work at 6 pm daily to spend time with his loved ones. OK, let’s be honest. For David to remain competitive at work, he must work long hours. So, the JMS team carve a work block on the weekend to compensate for all the socializing he is doing during the week.
Secondly, Dear Readers, the most effective way to evaluate your progress on specific goals you’ve set is to get into the habit of daily planning. Indeed, there is no better way to integrate and track specific tasks into your recurring daily chunks of time. You’ll probably need to assign predetermined mini-goals to certain days from week to week to see substantial progress.
As you see, Dear Readers, a meaningful, well-balanced, successful life does not happen by chance. You’ve got to put in the work, build the infrastructure, and commit to the process consistently to reap the benefits you want more than anything else.
There you have it, Dear Readers! Thank you for taking the time to read today’s publication.
