Here we go again with these doorbuster deals enticing us to spend money we don’t even have! After the year we’ve had, Dear Readers, Black Friday sales don’t seem to have the same appeal, does it? As more and more elected officials are imposing what smells like lockdown 2.0, how are you supposed to enjoy the holiday season?
Dear Readers, this blog certainly does not want you to get into debt buying things you don’t necessarily need at this moment! But, if you are lucky enough to have a job and want to take advantage of Black Friday sales as you start your Christmas shopping, the JMS team invites you to consume more mindfully with three simple guiding principles.
Support your local small businesses.
Shopping locally has taken an even more meaningful relevance as COVID-19 restrictions have mercilessly destroyed many small businesses. The remaining brave ones are surviving thanks to your support and a whole lot of payers! So yes, Dear Readers, please consider shopping locally and investing in your community. The only way through the coronavirus is to band together and fight together to pull ourselves out of this unwanted global calamity!
Create meaningful experiences.
It might be a cliché, Dear Readers, but it bears repeating that experiences are priceless. The many Americans, who prematurely lost a loved one due to COVID-19, all stated that their greatest regret is not having spent enough time with them! So, Dear Readers, consider spending time creating things rather than buying a mountain of gifts. Given how much time we are spending time indoor these days, why not the plethora of DYI YouTube channels unleash your inner designer to make unforgettable tchotchkes for loved ones?
Cultivate sustainability even in giving.
With so many Americans losing their jobs, Dear Readers, now more than ever is the time to donate to your local charity so that the less fortunate among us can also participate in the gift sharing. A good rule of thumb is one in one out as you consider making your list of new gifts or items to donate.
There is one caveat, Dear Readers, that you cannot afford to overlook!
If you are living paycheck to paycheck, Dear Readers, stop reading this post right this moment. Instead, plan to time the laid-back day with loved ones at home or your local Christmas Village if you are lucky enough to live close to one! Don’t even think about giving up your hard-earned money to companies that only care about their bottom lines rather than your welfare. Don’t do it, Dear Readers! The JMS team wants to see you succeed in this crazy thing called life!
There you have it, Dear Readers! We want to hear from you! How do you plan on spending your Black Friday? Did we miss anything? Let us know by email at jms@branding24seven.com or by mail at JMStrategy LLC
