We now have 30 million Americans who have filed for unemployment. When can we wake up from this horrific nightmare? What are you supposed to do now that the economy is slowly reopening?
Frustration has exploded into full-fledged angry outbursts! Last week, protestors in Michigan walked into the State Capitol with their assault weapons. It seems that carrying a firearm in public is legal in Michigan as long as people do it with lawful intent and do not attempt to conceal it. Is this how desperate we’ve become to return to work?
The stay-at-home orders have taken such a financial toll that protestors are expressing their anger more and more vocally. But is any of this helpful to our mental health? So many of you, Dear Readers, have emailed us sharing just how destructive the global pandemic has been to your mental health. People with a great self-care routine have felt defeated and discouraged as stay-at-home orders exacerbated mindless snacking episodes as well as never-ending TV binging sessions. In short, we are all feeling overwhelmed, unproductive, and battered by what has been called quarantine fatigue.
Consequently, the purpose of this week’s shot of motivation is to give us the strength to push through this challenging period. As we have put our lives on pause to stay cooped up in the house, we now feel completely disconnected from everything and everyone. Upon deeper reflection, Dear Readers, you can say that this global pandemic disrupted much more than just our social lives. Our collective drive and optimism appear to have taken a nosedive in the last couple of weeks and took a back seat to the ravages that COVID-19 brought to our nation. So, Dear Readers, how do you move forward when everything seems to have changed drastically in such a short period to the extent that it is unimaginable to see your life return to a semblance of normalcy?
Yet, Mark Twain insists that:
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”
Translation? Since we are all tired of this quarantine stuff, let’s dust ourselves and find our way back to the life we loved and lost! If your state has not yet lifted stay-at-home orders, Dear Readers, please consider making time for a daily stroll or jog (as long as you can still maintain social distancing of course). Indeed, getting outside will force you to leave the couch and slowly get back into the habit of moving rather than succumbing to the depressing feeling of being trapped inside with nowhere to go.
Dear Readers, this is how to get on the road to reclaiming your lives! Don’t think that things will snap back into their places in an instant! Far from it, Dear Readers! One of the many challenging aspects of crisis management is recovery. The JMS team has seen over and over again how clients falsely believe that their lives will go back to the way it was before as they want to forget the life-altering event they’ve just survived.
But, the truth of the matter is that life as you know it is gone. Therefore, you must accept the fact that you will be called upon to make many more adjustments to hopefully get to a life that will love even if it looks drastically different. For that reason, this blog invites you to prepare for a return to a new normal now and get ahead of the inevitable yet potentially turbulent social reintegration.
For instance, did you know Dear Readers that the airline industry is exploring new airplane designs? They want to accommodate social distancing and be ready for the fall when a second wave of the coronavirus might be even more destructive than the outbreak we’ve barely survived. Far from being the only industry, many companies are currently reviewing office layouts to implement social distancing parameters. This so-called return to real life will be anything but business as usual! So why don’t you, Dear Readers, get ahead and start planning your re-entry to society today!
Let’s walk together toward a different normal. After all, America’s survival depends on us all, Dear Readers. Are you ready to join the fight to rebuild America? Let us know what you can do today, where you are, with what you’ve got down below in the comment section or by email at jms@branding24seven.com.
Come back next Wednesday for another shot of Hump Day Motivation!
