Last week, a record 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment! The Trump administration cannot let this pandemic cannot decimate our economy! But what can you do to survive and avoid falling into a depression? Do not despair just yet, Dear Readers! The JMS team has three mental health care tips to help you through this time of national crisis.
Welcome back to the JMS blog! Dear Readers, thank you very much for your continued support! As a consulting firm that advises teams how to manage crises of all sorts with efficiency and expediency, the JMS team is all too familiar with the panic you all feel. Thankfully, this blog can meet your concerns because JMS is in the business of designing recovery plans as robust as possible that avoid organizational and fiscal paralysis. Consequently, the JMS team is starting its special edition Protecting The American Psyche Wellness series to encourage us all as we fight like hell to stay alive and beat this coronavirus monstrosity.
ONE – Take a deep breath and find three things to be grateful for in the midst of this madness.
This blog believes that success begins in your mind. Right now, that means staying alive and staying connected to loved ones through social media. Even in this darkness, amazing things are happening all around us.
Believing in leading by example, here are the three things the JMS team is grateful for:
- Every single hero on the front line of this pandemic selflessly fighting to provide essential services to all of us.
- Our families who support us unconditionally, believe in the work we do and encourage us to continue impacting lives through the branding24seven community.
- For the touching, encouraging, and thought-provoking messages our Dearest Readers continue to send us.
Find things to be grateful for every day and write them down in a gratitude notebook. So that when you feel your confidence dip, anxiety creeps up, or despair invades your psyche, open your notebook and remember all the goodness that you have been lucky enough to experience.
TWO – Find a creative hobby that you can do while locked up in your home.
How many times have we heard that arts education is essential for our children? So why is it that adults lose their creative outlets the moment they start “adulting”? Well, mental health matters to all! In this moment of crisis, we all need something to enrich our lives. For that reason, this blog prescribes a daily dose of creativity to support you during the pandemic. Keep in mind that your hobby can be anything and not just arts and crafts.
Here are our favorites: baking, creating a collage board, taking up knitting or crochet, creating a list of oldies but goodies favorite songs for your private dance party, painting or coloring or doodling or gluing stickers on anything.
Whatever you do, Dear Readers, choose something that captures the attention of your minds and keep negative thoughts at bay. That’s how to take care of your mental health!
THREE – Take the time to cultivate the relationships that matter most to you.
In the hustle and bustle of life, we seldom take the time to let loved ones know how important they are. Maybe we take them for granted. Maybe we mistakenly value the job above all other elements of our lives. But times like these put things in perspective and show is that all you need are loved ones. One can be wealthy, but without anyone to share it with, one will end feeling lonely, sad, and bitter. Who wants to live like this??? Certainly not the JMS team!!! Neither should you, Dear Readers!!!
We are lucky enough to live in the most connect period of history, thanks to social media and communications apps, and we should take full advantage of all this technology advances. Find what works for you and connect with your people every day…. It will go a long way to give you a sense of support and belonging. After all, isn’t this what human connection is all about?
There you have it, Dear Readers! Thank you for stopping by our blog today. As always, we want to hear from you! How are you dealing with the emotional distress brought on by this global pandemic?
