You’ve lost your job. Now what, Dear Readers? How do you move forward when 30 million Americans have lost their jobs in six weeks as well? Do you worry that you will never get your career back on track? The JMS team is here to help you navigate these unprecedented times and find your way out.
Welcome back to the JMS blog! Dear Readers, thank you very much for your continued support! As a consulting firm that advises people from all walks of life how to manage crises with efficiency and expediency, the JMS team is all too familiar with the panic you all feel. Thankfully, this blog can help you process any concerns you might have because JMS is in the business of designing recovery plans as robust as possible that avoid behavioral and financial paralysis. Consequently, the JMS team is continuing its special edition Protecting The American Psyche Wellness series to encourage us all as we fight like hell to stay alive and beat this coronavirus monstrosity.
Dear Readers, as several states are starting to reopen gradually, now is the time to plan for the comeback of a lifetime! The best thing you can do is invest in yourself and figure out what truly matters to you and your family. One of the recurring complaints this blog has heard from members of the Branding24sevven community is utter disgust for how quickly the lives you worked hard to build have fallen apart. In other words, you’ve realized that your daily setup has lured you into a false sense of security, and the coronavirus has highlighted just how fragile this thing called life can be.
Losing your job is stressful and discouraging. This blog is not minimizing the hardship that you are currently experiencing. In fact, please refer to this previous publication if you are currently looking for ways to be more strategic with your time and improving your chances to find a job.
Today, however, this blog invites you to shift the focus away from finding any good old job to redesigning your life to be more content with your progress despite the madness that is going on all around us.
First, you start by analyzing the choices you have made that brought you to where you are today.
Are you happy with the choice of career you’ve made so far? Do you want to stay in the same career? Are you happy with the work-life balance your current career has afforded you so far? What has the stay-at-home order of your state showed you? Do you need to move into an essential business industry? Can such a career change bring more financial stability into your life? At what cost? Dear Readers, make some time for introspection, however uncomfortable, to figure out how to transform your lives. After all, this is probably the only instance in our life that we will see the White House put the economy on pause, force us to stay home and not be able to work.
Second, you focus on finding your north star.
Dear Readers, if you are unhappy with the way your lives have turned out so far, now is the time to explore what you could do differently. You have the power to change your lives if you believe it and decide to take action decisively in line with your north star. Therefore, it is beneficial to take the time to ascertain what else you could be doing that can bring you real fulfillment. Connect with the people who are in your preferred industry on social media. The zoom app is all the rage these days, take advantage of it Dear Readers!
Third, you are serious about investing in professional development.
A few weeks ago, this blog had designed an evening routine to help you manage your anxiety (potentially even more pertinent if you did end up losing your job in the last few weeks). In the article, the JMS team discussed consider ending your day with a goal-setting refresh session as a nice transition to usher you into the evening routine with a hopeful outlook.
Today, the JMS team is inviting you to extend that transition session into full-length study opportunities to learn a new skill, refresh an older one, or get ready to prepare for your next certification. Whatever you choose to do, the point of your professional development investment is to come out of the stay-at-home order a better version of yourself with a brand-new outlook on life.
There you have it, Dear Readers! Thank you for stopping by our blog today. As always, we want to hear from you! Do you think that we got it all wrong? What are you doing with your time if you are not able to work remotely and have been furloughed recently? Share with us your experience through this ordeal thus far and what hardships you’ve faced since the stay-at-home orders have taken effect. Tell us all about it in the comment section below, by email at jms@branding24seven.com, or by mail at:
