Why do you need a morning routine? Because you and only you are the author of your life and no one else!
Dear Readers, this blog is here to inspire you to go after the meaningful life that you want. Yet, we know too well that success does not happen by accident. It takes a lot of elbow grease, sacrifice, and a clear vision. The JMS team believes that if you do not actively make a plan for your own lives, Dear Readers, you will end up living someone else’s dreams (which are never ever as fulfilling as your own by the way).
So, Dear Readers, you need a clear plan if you want to see your dreams come true. Most of us are better at seeing the big picture. For instance, it seems that society has conditioned us to set big goals like clockwork on New Year’s Day. However, it seems that we are less apt to break these big goals into bite-size objectives. Worst, we tend to let life happen to us while lamenting incessantly the lack of time we experience to do what we want or when we want it, and how often we want it! Consequently, this blog is inviting you, Dear Readers, to shift your perspective and see the morning routine as the vehicle that will allow you to crush your smaller objectives daily!
So, what elements should you include in your morning routine?
Of course, it comes down to the big picture you have painted for yourself! Helpful? Not Yet! Ok, Dear Readers, what this blog means is that your morning routine is the conduit to your goals. For instance, it is futile to impose elements that matter to a semi-professional triathlete marketing executive to a stay-at-home parent who is homeschooling four children. See how that makes absolutely no sense!
Instead of blindingly apply a formula tailor-made for someone else’s reality, Dear Readers, consider creating a morning routine that aligns with the current season of your life while enticing you to chase your goals with reckless abandon! Consequently, if you want to run a marathon in the fall, you will need to make room for workout sessions in the morning that complement your evening running routine. But, if you want a promotion that requires a specific license, then you will have to include review morning sessions to reinforce all the hard studying you did after work!
In short, this blog invites you to split your morning into two tranches.
The first tranche is all about goal chasing, while the second one is getting yourself ready for the day. Notice that this blog insists that the very first element you should tend to upon waking up should have to do with your goals. Indeed, this is the time to work on the bit-size manageable objectives we discussed earlier. Why? That’s because life is so unpredictable that you should not leave your goals, your dreams, your happiness to chance! If you make the pursuit of your goals the number one priority of each day, you will see your dreams come true! In addition, doing so eliminates the likelihood that you lost steam later in the day crushing someone else’s goals and lack the motivation to cultivate what matters to you!
Once you’ve successfully tackled the first tranche, you move to the second one to get yourself ready for the day. You are finally able to accomplish mundane yet necessary tasks such as taking a shower, getting dressed, eating a healthy breakfast, preparing your lunch, and whatever else is need before you start your working chunk. The philosophy that powers the work that the JMS team accomplishes for clients is to divide your day into four distinct chunks and assign bundles of tasks to each of them.
Dear Readers, there are two takeaways that this blog must discuss before ending today’s publication. Firstly, your morning routine will not be a productive tool that brings you closer to your goals if you are skimping on your sleep. Yes, we all know it, but it bears repeating that sleep is crucial! In case you are battling unusual high levels of anxiety due to public health chaos and economic disruption brought upon by COVID-19, consider developing a simple to follow mind appeasing evening routine to sleep better and finally get some rest.
