How can we collectively start this new year on the right foot, Dear Executives, to continue enjoying the longest stretch of economic expansion in U.S. history? How can you increase the productivity of your team regardless of your industry and the size of your company? What are potential pressure points lurking on the horizon that you ought to consider as you update your five-year strategic plan? Keep reading to find out the trends to watch out for to remain as productive as possible well into the next decade.
Welcome back to the premier hub for branding inspiration! In case this is your first time visiting, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that devises tailor-made plans of action to render your brand as robust as possible. Now, without further ado, let’s explore the strategic factors companies should keep at the forefront of any short and mid-term forecasting.
THE RESHAPING OF CORPORATE AMERICA
With freelancers eating an ever-increasing portion of the global labor force, more and more businesses have been able to cut costs. Is there a better way to significantly reduce the impact of necessary yet profit negating expenses such as contributions for pension funds, medical benefits, in addition to the inevitable payroll tax burden? This blog believes that your company should plan for more labor disruption, Dear Executives.
With technology making it progressively easier to manage integrated team projects with contractors, remote and full-time employees, the JMS team believes that such workforce trends will redefine Corporate America as we know it over the next decade.
Consequently, Dear Executives, this blog insists that the focus for 2020 ought to be centered around unearthing new unconventional incentives that will motivate your personnel and minimize communication gaps between leadership and all level staff members. Indeed, the surest way to prevent new market trends from decimating profit margins (as currently seen in the dairy industry) is for your leadership to maintain constant contact with the staff that interacts most with your customers. If you can already sense an industry shift, do not hesitate to email jms@branding24seven.com to discuss Alignment Strategies that will help you identify branding misalignments most likely to alienate further your customer base or decrease the efficiency of companywide processes.
5G IS LIKELY TO TRANSFORM ALL INDUSTRIES…. IS YOUR COMPANY READY?
Improvements to communications systems have revolutionized the way we do business over and over again. However, 5G is likely to cause even more technological disruption and perhaps usher in the next industrial revolution. This blog asks you, Dear Executives, what does this mean for your company? What transformations should you take on the heels of this 5G upgrade to remain competitive? What mobile elements can you introduce in U.S. factories and warehouses to improve productivity?
The JMS team believes that companies should start training personnel now as industries move away from human operators controlling machines remotely to service robots autonomously operating vast portions of your production chain.
Furthermore, Dear Executives, 5G could spark a fundamental redesign of your processes. Indeed, the JMS team believes that U.S. manufacturing is ripe for such a shift. For instance, to remain profitable, carmakers must respond to the gradual upsurge in demand of viable environment friendlier alternatives to the pollution producing vehicles that invade our highways.
Consequently, Dear Executives, this blog invites you to take the time now to evaluate how to incorporate 5G in the next few years. More than a technological sensation, 5G could be the impetus to the next industrial revolution that will most definitely change the way companies do businesses.
WHAT WILL CHARITABLE GIVING LOOK LIKE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS?
While working with nonprofits in the aftermath of the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017, the JMS team has seen firsthand how some nonprofits have had a difficult time to maintain its levels of individual donations steady. Indeed, without write-off incentives, some households seem to make different choices in tax strategies to be more suitable to their priorities.
Consequently, this shift in household priorities could hit smaller NGOs more severely since individuals make more than 50 percent of their donation pool. Undoubtedly, it is often much harder for them to attract multi-year funding from foundations. To survive the next decade, smaller NGOs must update how they go about raising money by establishing a more authentic connection with households (as discussed, our last fundraising edition).
Far from being the only ones who will continue to struggle to maintain their levels of operations, this blog believes that colleges are also due for a serious upgrade as well. Are you paying attention to the many debt-ridden students who seem to remain jobless for some time upon graduating only to settle for a job they dislike intensely? The number of dissatisfied students has been growing exponentially and will continue to rise over the next decade. What are you doing now to change the tides? How long do you plan on staying in business with a high number of disgruntled customers?
To survive the next decade, Dear Readers, the JMS team believes that colleges must upgrade the level of service they provide to increasingly distrustful prospective students. Should you continue to rely so heavily on international students to fund your relentless pursuit to modernize university infrastructural development projects? Instead, you must focus on aligning your offerings to the demands of our ever-evolving economy. As higher learning institutions, your goal should be to provide the required training that will help U.S. students snatch a job immediately upon graduating! The level of donations would be skyrocketing like never before!
U.S. MAINSTREAM MEDIA… PROPAGANDA ARM OR BEACON OF TRUTH?
Sadly, more and more Americans distrust news making channels. Why else is the term fake news so popular here in the U.S. and even abroad? What can the media do to restore public trust? Trampling all over YouTube channels that are only amplifying the sentiment that many U.S. voters already feel is certainly not the answer! Continuously bashing President Trumps is also not helpful! This blog would like to see the era of fake news come to an end in 2020!
Moving forward, the JMS team believes that mainstream media needs to undergo a robust change to stay in business and recapture the public’s trust. It must return to its essence: provide honest, unbiased coverage to inform the public.
However, if mainstream media continues on its current path, this blog believes that it will lose all business and credibility. Fewer viewers will tune in while advertising dollars will migrate to other platforms.
No matter how powerful mainstream media might still feel today, its reign of unquestioned clout is over. Moving forward in 2020, Dear Executives, you want to instill a renewed sense of rightness. Your employees should be shining examples of the spirit behind the First Amendment of the United States Constitution rather than behave as hooligans banding together to promote their biases while sabotaging the reputation of innocent people (as in the case of Covington student Nicholas Sandmann who has allegedly settled a defamation suit with CNN at the time of the writing of this publication).
