Your bills are paid… You actually like your coworkers… The workload is manageable… And yet you feel stuck and unbothered! What actions can you take to
First, let’s shift perspective and accept that your current position, Dear Readers, is temporary.
Second, take a moment to silence that murmur that might discourage you as you read this post and embrace instead the fear of the unknown.
Yes, it is scary to leave what’s comfortable or the devil that you know. But the unknown is also the gateway to a world of possibilities. Don’t you want to find out, Dear Readers, how much greater your life could be? This blog certainly wants to encourage you to face your fears and make the leap of faith.
In case you are hesitating…. In case the murmur in your head is getting louder and louder…. Here are three small steps that can get the ball rolling and help you feel unstuck.
DO. SOME. A. LOT. OF RESEARCH.
To find out the true cost of changing course professionally: learn about alternative careers, find people in these alternative careers and conduct informal interviews, find ways to test drive these alternative ways by shadowing or volunteering.
WRITE. OUT. ALL. MOST. RELEVANT. STEPS.
That you need to take (e.g., enroll in continuing education classes at your local community college, study for a specific license, identify areas of expertise you may be lacking) in order to begin the career that will help you feel fulfilled at last.
CHOOSE. ONE. TASK.
That you can complete before the end of the day (e.g., register for a class, listen to a podcast, ask your mentor out to lunch, identify the colleagues who can write the most effective letters of reference on your behalf).
This is how you take action Dear Readers!
Robert Collier said it best: “Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out”. So, go ahead, take action, be consistent, and fearlessly believe that nothing is impossible!
