Dear Readers, it’s been a new year for all but a minute, and yet the year already feels like it’s been a very long one. We are all still recovering from the events we’ve all witnessed with horror just last week when the U.S. Congress convened to count and certify the electoral results in a joint session.
But, this blog insists that you are still the artist of your life.
You can design the life of your dreams despite the mayhem that the coronavirus brought into our lives last year. Consequently, today’s publication is to identify the new trends that are likely to shape 2021 so that you, Dear Readers, have a fighting chance to overturn whatever heartache the global pandemic has brought unto you and your family.
As a reminder, Dear Readers, this blog is the hub for your branding questions and motivation. In case this is your first time visiting, this blog is the brainchild of JMStrategy LLC (JMS), a boutique consulting firm that devises tailor-made plans of action to render your brand as robust as possible. Now, without further ado, let’s dive into the JMS 2021 predictions to help you have the best year possible (yes, even in a pandemic)!
If we are serious about moving forward, we must discuss the unavoidable theme of pandemic prevention.
Can we be frank? The global pandemic had a devastating impact on the American people, and our government was woefully unprepared! It seems that the nation and the media have laid a lot of blame on President Trump. But, what about our governors and mayors? What role has local government played in making our lives unrecognizable today? How many people are losing their jobs, are on the path to lose their homes, and are going hungry as we speak? Our esteemed elected officials all have had a hand at this catastrophe! Why?
Well, Dear Readers, that’s because we are fighting a war on two fronts with different timelines: public health policies (that focus on extending the quality of life for the entire nation) versus fiscal policies (that influence the economic conditions of the country via the use of revenue collection, i.e., our taxes, and expenditure, i.e., the latest 900 billion COVID-19 second stimulus package).

So, Dear Readers, why should we care? This blog believes that there will be a rising demand for a slew of public health disciplines so that the U.S. is ready to prevent future outbreaks. In particular, the appeal for careers in epidemiology and health administration is heating up to address how unprepared our hospitals and clinics were back in March 2020 and never again experience a shortage of life-saving personal protective equipment (PPE).
There is a renewed interest in infectious diseases and nutrition since the pandemic highlighted that we must put a premium to tackle socio-economic factors given how the coronavirus disproportionately impacted Black, Brown, and indigenous communities. So, Dear Readers, if you are studying or considering enter these fields, 2021 is the year to go for it with reckless abandon!
Entrepreneurship is having its moment, so go for it!
Now is the time to start a side hustle, to pursue the next great idea, to open your own business! Listen, Dear Readers, we cannot count on Congress to help us. Did you see how our elected officials voted down a $2000 to a $600 check for every American making up to $75,000? And they reduced the $600 per week in federal unemployment benefits from the previous relief bill t0 $300 for an additional 11 weeks? We have to help ourselves. Yes, it is heart-breaking that so many hard-working Americans lost their jobs to no fault of theirs! We really can only count on ourselves.
Consequently, this blog is doing its part to encourage and inform aspiring small business owners. Indeed, there will be a monthly newsletter to go out to all of you who are struggling to get your lives back on track. The time has come to rebuild America, and we should support each other as we fight to stay alive. To join, email us at jms@branding24seven.com.
And remember, Dear Readers, we are capable of amazing things. In the dead of winter right here in Philadelphia, restaurants have been building wooden chalets to accommodate outside dining. The city has even issued permits to shut down certain streets in the heart of Philadelphia to stimulate the local economy. These permits allowed local eateries to put the wooden chalets into the streets and sidewalks to maximize revenue yet respect social distancing directives. And residents choose to support them by eating and buying locally because we want our local economy to thrive despite it all. We don’t want our beloved city of Philadelphia to suffer the same fate as NYC!
Has the time come to break up the Big Tech companies?
Well, Dear Readers, 2020 has been trying for just about every industry! Big Tech companies are no exception. Federal and state antitrust authorities are considering filing new lawsuits against Facebook and Google.
So, Dear Readers, 2021 promises to be an interesting one for Big Tech companies. Will this be the year of a majestic regulatory reckoning? Who knows?!! And why should you care? If section 230 is a law that offers broad legal immunity to Internet companies, repealing such protection will impact us all, Dear Readers. Perhaps, there will be a lot more policing, Dear Readers, and you won’t enjoy the same level of freedom of speech you’ve enjoyed so far.
After all, Twitter has managed to suspend President Trump’s account permanently just last week. What would stop Big Tech companies from deleting anyone else’s account this year? If they disagree with our political views or religious beliefs and consider them dangerous due to the risk of further incitement of violence, will they also suspend our accounts? Do you see, Dear Readers, why this blog insists that this developing story is a trend in the making that will change all of our lives for the worse?!!!
Final thoughts.
