It’s a new week… You grudgingly wake up early to go to a job that you H.A.T.E! No wonder your head is swimming with negative thoughts! Is that why you are short with your friends and family members? Is that why you are in a foul mood. All. The. Darnedest. Time???
OK, Dear Readers, let’s take a deep breath and put things in perspective, shall we?
For one, it is a good idea to think about cultivating gratitude. You might feel as if you have hit rock bottom; however, there are many blessings that you could be overlooking right this moment. Are you lucky enough to have a roof over your head, eat three meals a day, have a solid support system (family, friends, a significant other), and to be in good health?
Yes, these are H.U.G.E blessings.
If you don’t think so, as the homeless person you see on your way to work, or the friend who is going through a rough divorce, or the colleague whose other half has had a heart attack! Dear Readers, this blog is here to remind you that you are all lucky to be alive!
This newfound gratitude should give you a new lease on life. The job that you hate helps you take care of the basics of your life. Great! That’s how you stay motivated, by remembering that the job that you have at this moment is saving your life right now. Without it, you would be in a world of trouble.
Now, does that mean that you must accept that you will have a hateful job for the rest of your life? Absolutely not! Grab a notebook and write down what you think is your dream job this very minute whether you are 23 or 56 years of age.
Tear that page out of your notebook and tape it on your bathroom mirror. Seeing that reminder first thing in the morning and the last thing before going to bed should give you the juice to keep going.
Don’t give up now, Dear Readers, great things are ahead and don’t forget to keep counting your blessings whenever you feel discouraged!
And come back to this blog for another dose of inspiration!
